In the wine world, there’s no one more irrepressibly “his own man” than Randall Grahm. When he purchased property in the Santa Cruz Mountains, he was intent on making the Great American Pinot Noir. That vision eluded him but he was greatly encouraged by experimental batches of Rhône varieties, and he’s been a tireless champion ever since the inaugural vintage of Le Cigare Volant, his Châteauneuf-inspired blend.
